Kittitas County Fire District 7 is requesting a list of eligible candidates from Public Safety Testing (PST) by February 28th, 2025 to establish a one year hiring list. We are currently looking to hire three full time Firefighter/EMT's by April 28th, 2025.  Notifications will be sent to candidates via email on file with PST. 

Community Information

Kittitas County Fire District #7 is the largest fire district in the Upper Kittitas County and our ability to manage our responses and assist other agencies is critical. KCFD7 has been in existence since 1980 under the Fire Protection District, organized under Title 52 of the Revised Code of Washington. KCFD7 jurisdiction is in Northern Kittitas County, covering 126 square miles around the communities of Cle Elum, South Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Ronald. These areas include Teanaway, Liberty, Peoh Point, Nelson, Salmon La Sac, and more. 

The District provides these services from 8 stations and employs one Fire Chief, a Training Captain, and 15 Career Firefighters/EMTs. The District’s career firefighters work a rotating schedule of 48hrs on, and 96hrs off, with a minimum of 4 career firefighters on duty responding to calls from Station 73 off of Golf Course Road, and Station 72 off Airport Road, 24hrs a day, 365 days a year, with integral volunteer response that supports the agency’s Mission.

The municipal services provided by KCFD 7 in accordance with the mission and statutes that govern fire protection districts and fire departments are Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Basic Life Support (BLS) response; Fire Prevention/Public Education; Fire Suppression (vehicle, residential and commercial); Wildland Firefighting; Hazardous Materials Response-Operations; and Technical Rescue/Special Operations (high/low angle, ice rescue).

KCFD7 administration employees include one Chief Finance Admin/ District Secretary, one Administrative Specialist, one Fleet Mechanic, and one Facility Maintenance Technician.

Department Information

Kittitas County Fire District 7, KCFD#7, was founded in the early 1980’s. We started with one fire station and a few volunteers. Today Fire District 7 has grown to 8 stations. We also have 7 water tenders, licensed Aid Cars (ambulance) and a ladder truck. This is the only ladder truck in Upper Kittitas County. The District is staffed with 16 full-time career firefighters and 40 volunteers from the community. The goal of the District has been to continue to enhance and increase our services to the public. The district continues to grow as more homes are built into the wildland urban interface. The District has expanded from 80 to 126 square miles.

Job Description

A Firefighter is a highly trained professional responsible for providing the public with the highest quality fire mitigation, rescue, and emergency services. Firefighters perform various duties, such as extinguishing fires, conducting rescue operations, providing emergency medical services, conducting fire inspections, educating the public about fire safety, and participating in training and drills to maintain their skills. Firefighters must work well under pressure, make quick decisions, and remain calm in high-stress situations while remaining physically fit to handle the demands of modern hazard mitigation in dangerous and unpredictable conditions. In addition to the technical skills required, Firefighters must also have strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
